Washington Research Library Consortium

The Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC) is an association of Washington area libraries created in 1987 "to share library collections and information technology in order to enhance the resources available to their students and faculty." 

WRLC members are often identified by a two-letter code.  Here are the members and their codes:

  • American University -- AU
  • The Catholic University of America -- CU
  • Gallaudet University -- GA
  • George Mason University -- GM
  • George Washington University -- GW
  • Georgetown University -- GT
  • Howard University -- HU
  • Marymount University -- MU
  • University of the District of Columbia -- DC

Gallaudet students, faculty, and staff members have access to the resources of all the WRLC libraries. They may

  • Visit and use other WRLC libraries. They may be required for show a current Gallaudet ID for admission.  Some libraries restrict computer use. For example, GW visitors must have computer guest accounts
  • Borrow books from other WRLC libraries(a current Gallaudet ID is required)
  • Request that books, videos, and journal articles be sent from other WRLC libraries to Gallaudet
