This guide explains how to request an item that is not available at Gallaudet University Library.

The first step is to see if the item is available fom another Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC) library.   If it is available, you may

  • go to the owning library and use it there.  If it is a "circulating" book or video, you may also borrow it.

  • make an online request to have the item
    • sent to Gallaudet for you to borrow (if it's a book or video)
    • emailed to you (if it's a journal article or book chapter)

If the item is not available from any WRLC library, you may ask us to get it for you through a process called "interlibrary loan."

You may return books to Gallaudet University Library.  We will return them to the owning libraries for you.
